Arman Zhumazhanov is a doctoral student in Higher Education Administration at Indiana University Bloomington. His research interest focuses on exploring the intricacies of data-informed decision-making policies and critical analysis of corporate governance within higher education institutions.

Before stepping into the doctoral program, Zhumazhanov gained valuable experience in higher education administration roles in Kazakhstan. Serving as the Chief of Staff to the President of Nazarbayev University (2017-2022), he developed a comprehensive understanding of institutional leadership, policymaking, problem-solving, and crisis management. Previously, he was Director of the Department of International Cooperation (2014-2017) and Manager of the Department of Strategy and Analysis (2010-2014), which allowed him to refine his skills in strategic planning and analysis, international collaboration, and institutional promotion.

Among Zhumazhanov’s accomplishments is his contribution to establishing the Asian Universities Alliance in 2017. This esteemed alliance, which brought together fifteen leading universities from across Asia – including the National University of Singapore, Tsinghua University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and the University of Tokyo – continues to promote academic and research collaboration and mobility across the continent.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Selcuk University (Turkey), Master’s degrees in Business Administration and Public Administration from Colorado State University-Pueblo (USA) and Nazarbayev University (Kazakhstan), respectively.
