Unpacking the 2025 Carnegie Classifications

In this session, leaders from the Carnegie Classifications will walk through the April 2025 updates to the classification system, including the revised Institutional Classification and a new Student Access and Earnings Classification that examines the extent to which an institution is enrolling students who reflect the communities it serves and whether those students go on to earn competitive wages compared to peers in their area. They will explain the vision behind the changes, walk through the new methodologies, and show a new interactive data tool that creates a way to engage with the new Student Access and Earnings Classification and explore different analyses.
